KEYFALL How to play

KEYFALL is a free browser piano rhythm game you play with a MIDI keyboard or digital piano connected to your computer. Just play the keys as the notes fall. Great as a game and as piano practice.

What you need

Getting started

1. Connect your keyboard

Connect your MIDI keyboard via USB, then open the game page. When asked to allow access to MIDI devices, click "Allow". When the device name appears at the top right, you are ready.

2. Load a song

Drag and drop a song file onto the screen.

We recommend trying the built-in "Demo: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" first.

3. Play

Press the matching key the moment a note reaches the white line. Your timing is judged as PERFECT / GREAT / GOOD / MISS.

Customization

You can change note colors (right / left hand), note style (Standard / Glass / Neon), glow strength, key length, note names on keys (C D E / Do Re Mi), the play-screen background image and its opacity, master / music / hit-sound volume (in 1% steps), timing offset and more. Settings are saved automatically.

Troubleshooting

The MIDI keyboard does not respond

Open the site settings from the icon at the left of the address bar and allow "MIDI devices". The keyboard may not be detected while another music app (such as a DAW) is using it.

I hear the sound twice

Your digital piano makes its own sound, so set "Key sound" to "Off".

The timing feels off

Adjust "Timing offset" in the settings. Bluetooth headphones add delay, so wired headphones or speakers are recommended.

The analyzed chart looks wrong

Automatic analysis is an AI estimate, so some notes may be missed or extra notes may appear. Solo piano recordings and MIDI files give the best results.
